Volunteer Opportunities

Making a Difference in Your Community

Through New England Farm Workers’ Council, Partners for Community provides opportunities for young people to serve their community in the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more.

In the New England Farm Workers’ program, VISTA members help faith-based and other local community service organizations create strong community partnerships and broaden their scope of services. VISTA volunteers will provide support in plan development, grant writing, current community program awareness and capacity-building which will in turn provide a larger scale of programs and awareness to low-income communities.

VISTA service options are available through the New England Farm Workers’ Council in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

If you are interested in becoming a VISTA volunteer in a local community, please contact Leida Cartagena at 413-536-5403, ext. 225.
