Competitive Integrated Employment Services (CIES)
Matching businesses with skilled workers
Corporation for Public Management (CPM) offers CIES, a program of the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) that provides a high-support model of employment training for referred participants.
The first step of CIES for any participant is a thorough assessment of both academic skills as well as a variety of career skills. A specific plan is developed according to the level of service that a participant needs to receive, and can range from helping a highly qualified individual with a long work history apply his or her skills in a new field to helping individuals overcome language barriers, obtain GEDs or gain certification to start a career.
CPM also has employment specialists who form close relationships with local businesses in a variety of industries. They help employers by:
• Finding individuals who display strengths and skills that match the company’s needs
• Following up regularly once an employee has been placed (providing a minimum of 30-day, 60-day and 90-day follow-ups)
• Acting as an advocate and facilitator to ensure a positive and long-lasting relationship for all parties
• Obtaining tax and other benefits for the companies as needed, including processing Work Opportunity Tax Credits
Industries served by the Corporation for Public Management include:
• Health care
• Human services
• Hospitality
• Warehouse
• Manufacturing
• Construction
